Professional stunt training in China

The International Shaolin Dragon Academy offers an intensive programme for martial artists, performers and aspiring stunt professionals who want to develop practical skills for film, television and live performance.

Training combines fight choreography, screen movement, acting, martial arts performance and controlled stunt practice, with an emphasis on timing, coordination, camera awareness, expression and visual impact.

Suitable For

Martial artists, actors, aspiring stunt performers, fight performers, action choreographers, Wushu and Kung Fu practitioners, Kickboxing athletes, dancers and movement performers.

Experience Level

Applicants should have a reasonable level of physical fitness. Previous martial arts, acting, gymnastics, dance or performance experience is beneficial.

Application Materials

You may be asked to submit a CV, training history or unedited demonstration video showing your current abilities.

This camp is designed for participants aged 18 years and above.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS

Comfortable stay throughout the programme

Participants stay in selected 3–4 star hotels, which may include the International Shaolin Dragon Academy Hotel or accommodation of a comparable standard.

Rooms generally include twin beds, private bathroom, air conditioning, heating, television and telephone. Single rooms may be available for an additional USD $40 per day, subject to availability.

Breakfast is generally buffet style with Chinese and Western options. Lunch and dinner are included as specified in the itinerary.

Your Stunt Training Camp journey

Day 1 · 26 July

Arrival in Zhengzhou

Meet our team, transfer to Dengfeng, check in, register and receive your introduction to the programme.

Days 2–10 · 27 July–4 August

Professional Stunt Training

Intensive stunt practice, screen combat, martial arts foundations, choreography, physical preparation, acting integration and camera awareness. The training period concludes with a graduation ceremony.

Day 11 · 5 August

Shaolin Temple & Songshan

Experience a Shaolin Kung Fu performance, visit Shaolin Temple and Pagoda Forest, and continue into the Songshan Mountain region towards Bodhidharma’s Cave, subject to conditions.

Day 12 · 6 August

Dengfeng to Beijing

Travel by high speed train to Beijing, check into your hotel and enjoy time to relax or begin exploring the capital.

Day 13 · 7 August

Beijing Heritage

Explore major cultural landmarks including the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven, followed by traditional hutongs.

Day 14 · 8 August

Great Wall of China & Return to Zhengzhou

Visit the legendary Great Wall of China and experience one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Afterwards, begin the journey back towards Zhengzhou, followed by a special farewell dinner with fellow participants and the programme team.

Day 15 · 9 August

Departure

Enjoy breakfast before your organised departure transfer. Participants wishing to extend their stay in China may arrange additional martial arts training, study programmes or travel extensions with ISDA in advance.

Receive your booking confirmation and preparation information. The remaining balance is due 90 days before the programme starts.

No. Previous experience is helpful but not essential. Training can be adapted according to participants’ experience, fitness and ability. Beginners should be prepared for a physically active programme.

Yes. Shaolin martial arts form an important part of the programme. Participants will experience traditional training methods while developing strength, coordination, flexibility, movement and performance skills.
Yes. The programme includes supervised wire and harness training, introducing participants to techniques used in martial arts and action performance.

Yes. The programme includes a visit to the Shaolin Temple area, giving participants the opportunity to experience the cultural and historical home of Shaolin martial arts.

Most international participants will need the appropriate visa or entry permission for China, depending on their nationality and circumstances. Participants are responsible for ensuring they meet the current Chinese entry requirements before travelling.
Yes. Participants should have suitable international travel and medical insurance, including appropriate cover for the activities they intend to undertake during the programme.
We recommend comfortable sportswear, suitable training shoes, personal protective equipment where requested, reusable water bottles and appropriate clothing for both indoor and outdoor training. A detailed preparation list can be provided before arrival.
Stunt and martial arts training involve physical activity and an inherent risk of injury. Training is conducted progressively with instruction, supervision and appropriate safety procedures. Participants must follow instructor guidance and should not attempt techniques outside supervised sessions.
Yes. Participants may arrange to extend their stay in China after the camp. ISDA may also be able to arrange additional martial arts training or study programmes in advance, subject to availability and visa requirements.
