Support and Money

At the International Shaolin Dragon Academy, we believe that your time here should be focused on training, learning, and enjoying your experience – not worrying about finances. That’s why our Student Hub is your go-to place for guidance on fees, financial support, and personal wellbeing.

Our friendly Student Hub team is available 24/7 to offer confidential support whenever you need it. Whether you want to discuss payment options, develop your money management skills, apply for financial assistance, or seek advice from our financial advisers, we’re here to help every step of the way.

Managing Your Money in China

Accessing your money while studying here is simple:

  • ATMs – The Bank of China provides cash withdrawals using most international cards.
  • Money Transfers – Funds can be sent from abroad via Western Union.
  • Traveller’s Cheques – Can be cashed at banks such as the Bank of China, though processing may take some time.

Living Costs and Inclusions

Your food and accommodation are already included in the Academy’s costs, so your day-to-day living expenses are minimal. You’ll only need extra money for small personal items such as snacks, bottled water, travel, and shopping.

Most students find that the cost of food and everyday essentials in China is significantly lower than in their home countries, making it easy to budget and enjoy your stay without financial stress.

Health and Wellbeing

We care about your physical and mental health just as much as your martial arts progress. Every week, the Academy offers free, fun activities for all students – no fee, no commitment, and no special kit required. From group games to cultural experiences, these sessions are a great way to relax, meet others, and stay active in different ways.

Medical Care

China’s medical facilities are modern and well-equipped, offering a mix of Western, traditional Chinese, and integrated treatments.

While healthcare here is accessible, we recommend bringing a personal travel pharmacy with essentials such as:

  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Bandages and skin ointments
  • Anti-nausea medication
  • Antihistamines
  • Vitamin supplements

If you have any concerns about your health while here, our team will assist you in finding the right care quickly and effectively.

Travel

Exploring China from our Academy is both easy and affordable. Whether you’re heading to local cities like Dengfeng or Zhengzhou or taking a weekend trip further afield, there are plenty of transport options to suit your budget.

  • Bus travel to Dengfeng city or the Shaolin Temple: around 2–5 RMB.
  • Train travel: approximately 30–50 RMB depending on your destination.
  • Taxis are readily available but generally cost more than public transport.
