Chen Tongshan

Shaolin Martial Arts Grandmaster

Master Chen Tongshan is a highly respected Shaolin martial arts grandmaster and holder of the prestigious 9th Duan in Chinese Wushu. Born in Dengfeng, Henan Province—the home of Shaolin Temple—he has devoted his life to preserving, teaching, and promoting the essence of authentic Shaolin Kung Fu both in China and worldwide.

A Life Dedicated to Shaolin Kung Fu

Master Chen began training in martial arts at just eight years old, studying under his father and uncle. By the age of fifteen, he had already mastered more than twenty Shaolin traditional forms and weapons, with particular expertise in Black Tiger Fist. He later refined his skills under the legendary Shaolin master Hao Shizhai, where he specialised in long weapons and the Dharma Staff.

Chen Tong Chuan

Master Chen Tong Chuan is a highly respected Shaolin martial arts master, holder of the official 7th Duan in Chinese Wushu, and Principal of the Shaolin Xiaolong Martial Arts School. With over four decades of teaching, performance, and international exchange, he is recognised as one of the leading figures in the promotion of authentic Shaolin Kung Fu worldwide.

Early Training & Martial Arts Expertise

Chen Tong Chuan began training in martial arts from a young age under his father, Chen Chengwen, and was later guided by the abbot of the Shaolin Temple. He quickly became skilled in traditional Shaolin styles, including Shaolin Cannon Fist, Datongbei Boxing, and iconic weapons such as the Shaolin Meteor Hammer.

In 1978, together with his elder brother, he opened a martial arts class in his home village, laying the foundation for his lifelong career in teaching. By 1985, he was appointed Head Coach of the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts School, already recognised for his mastery and leadership.

Shi Yan Ming’s martial arts journey began at the legendary Shaolin Temple in China, birthplace of Chan Buddhism and Chinese martial arts. Here, he honed his discipline, inner strength, and spiritual understanding through years of rigorous training, meditation, and study of ancient philosophy.

A former Henan Lightweight Sanda Champion (1998), he was part of the first official Shaolin Temple troupe to perform in the UK, captivating audiences in the acclaimed Shaolin Wheel of Life production in London’s West End.

Beyond performance, he has directed martial arts stage shows in China and worked as an action director for film and television. Today, he leads the Academy with a vision to share authentic Shaolin heritage with the world.

A highly respected martial artist, Tai Chi instructor, and stage director, Chen Defeng has led executive Tai Chi programmes at the China National School of Administration. A Wushu Short Weapons Champion (1999), he has directed and performed in martial arts productions across China and internationally.

His work in both theatre and film blends traditional precision with creative innovation, capturing the true spirit of Chinese martial arts for audiences worldwide.

Shi Xiaolong (Ashton Chen Xiaolong) is a world-renowned martial artist, actor, and director, celebrated for his lifelong connection to Shaolin culture and his successful career in Chinese cinema. A disciple of Shi Yongxin, the abbot of Shaolin Temple, since the age of two, Shi Xiaolong was given his dharma name after beginning martial arts training under his father and Shaolin masters.

He first rose to fame as a child prodigy, astonishing audiences with his kung fu skills during the International Shaolin Kung Fu Festival at just four years old. Soon after, he became a beloved child actor in films such as Shaolin Popey(1994) and Shaolin Popey II: Messy Temple (1994), alongside his long-time friend Hao Shaowen. His early roles made him a household name, blending martial arts mastery with humour and charm.

Zhao Liuyang

Master Zhao began training at the Xiaolong Shaolin Martial Arts Academy in 2002 and progressed to the elite Shaolin Warrior Monk Performance Team. A champion in both traditional forms and Sanda (kickboxing), he has performed internationally and won multiple provincial and national titles.

Since 2012, he has held leadership and coaching roles at top martial arts academies, and in 2021 became Director of Youwutang Martial Arts Academy. Master Zhao combines authentic Shaolin tradition with modern coaching expertise, inspiring students to build strength, discipline, and confidence through martial arts.

Li Ying

Coach Li Ying began training in martial arts as a child and rose to prominence on the Shanxi Provincial Sports Team, winning multiple national and provincial championships. Since 2020, she has been coaching girls aged 10–15, focusing on technique, confidence, and personal growth.

In 2025, under her leadership, her students achieved outstanding results at the National Wushu Schools Sanda Championship and the Guangdong Youth Sanda Championship.

Chen Sitong. From Zhoukou, Henan, began training at Xiaolong Martial Arts School in 2016. A talented competitor, she won first place at the 2nd Xiaolong Elite Cup (2018) and first place at the school Sports Games (2019), and later trained with the Weinan Wushu Team, earning provincial-level honours.

Since 2023, she has been coaching girls aged 10–15, combining technical instruction with lessons in discipline, perseverance, and moral values, helping students grow into strong, confident, and principled individuals.

Li Meng. From Kaifeng, Henan, is a National First-Class Coach and Referee with over 20 years of experience in Sanda. A graduate of Xiaolong Shaolin Martial Arts Academy, he has trained elite athletes who have excelled in national competitions and earned places at top sports universities.

Renowned for his technical precision, discipline, and mentorship, Coach Li Meng has also guided students into China’s special forces, shaping both champions and outstanding individuals.

Wang Wei, 46, from Anhui, has over 30 years of martial arts experience and 27 years of teaching. A former champion in provincial competitions, he has trained elite athletes who have earned national-level titles. Renowned for his tailored coaching and focus on both skill and character, Coach Wang Wei continues to inspire the next generation of martial artists.

Wang Cheng (Wang Jihua)

  • Senior Wushu and Kung Fu Coach, International Shaolin Dragon Academy

Wang Cheng. From Anhui, is a 5th Duan Wushu master and Henan First-Class Coach and Referee. Appointed Head Coach of the Wushu Forms Team in 1999, he has guided students to top awards, including National Shaolin Championships. In 2025, he led the Xiaolong Forms Team to outstanding results at the “Run, Young People” Championship.

Guo Hongfeng, 25, from Guangdong, is a graduate of Xiaolong Shaolin Martial Arts School and a certified Social Sports Instructor. Trained from a young age, he has represented the school in international martial arts performances and on Shenzhen TV, CCTV, and at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

Since 2018, he has coached students to top achievements, with many joining the school teams, the military, or pursuing higher education.

Zeng Jian Yong has trained in martial arts since childhood and is a graduate of Xiaolong Shaolin Martial Arts School. He specialises in Wushu forms, competitive training, and film choreography, with experience in national tournaments and international performances.

Since 2018, he has coached students to achieve outstanding results in both competitions and film/TV productions, guiding them in technique, performance, and camera-ready choreography.
